Tata Motors has officially launched the Tiago.ev, marking a significant milestone as India’s first electric hatchback. This new addition to Tata’s electric vehicle (EV) lineup promises an exciting, eco-friendly, and premium driving experience, with introductory prices starting at INR 8.49 Lakh for the first 10,000 customers. At the heart of the Tiago.ev lies Tata Motors’ Ziptron technology. This in-house developed, high-voltage architecture is engineered to meet the unique demands of Indian driving conditions and weather. Ziptron is built on five core pillars: Performance, Technology, Reliability, Charging, and Comfort. Having been proven over 500 million kilometers across diverse Indian terrains, it ensures an exhilarating and dependable EV experience.
Tailored for Every Need: Battery and Charging Options
Understanding that customer needs vary, the Tiago.ev is available with two battery pack options and four distinct charging solutions.
Battery Packs:
- A 24kWh battery pack offering an estimated MIDC range of 315 km, suitable for longer journeys.
- A 19.2kWh battery pack designed for shorter, frequent trips, providing an estimated MIDC range of 250 km.
Both the battery and motor are backed by an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty.
Charging Solutions:
- A standard 15A plug point for convenient, at-home charging.
- A 3.3kW AC charger.
- A 7.2kW AC home fast charger, capable of adding 35 km of range in just 30 minutes and fully charging the vehicle in approximately 3 hours and 36 minutes.
- DC fast charging, which can add 110 km of range in 30 minutes and charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 57 minutes.
Advanced Connectivity and Premium Interior
The Tiago.ev sets a new benchmark in its segment by offering telematics as a standard feature across all trims. The ZConnect app provides access to 45 connected car features, including remote climate control, vehicle location tracking, smartwatch connectivity, and real-time charge status. Additionally, occupants can enjoy an 8-speaker Harman Infotainment System with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
The interior boasts premium features often found in higher-segment vehicles, such as leatherette seats, a contrast roof, fully automatic climate control, projector headlamps, and cruise control. Convenience features like rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, electric ORVMs with auto-fold, and push-button start/stop further enhance the driving experience.
Safety and Performance: A Thrilling Yet Secure Drive
Built on the GNCAP 4-star rated Tiago platform, the Tiago.ev is positioned as the safest electric hatchback in its class. It includes advanced safety features like hill start and descent assist, DRLs, and an iTPMS (Intelligent Tyre Pressure Monitoring System).
The electric hatch is powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that delivers 55kW of peak power and 114Nm of instant torque. This translates to a spirited performance, with the Tiago.ev accelerating from 0 to 60 kmph in just 5.7 seconds. Drivers can choose between two driving modes – City and Sport – each offering four levels of regenerative braking, allowing for a highly customizable and engaging driving experience, including a one-pedal driving sensation with level 3 regen settings.
The Tiago.ev is available in five distinct color options: Teal Blue, Daytona Grey, Pristine White, Midnight Plum, and Tropical Mist.
